Live music returns with a passion to the intimate and plush surroundings of our upstairs bar for our Monday to Thursday programme. Here is a rare opportunity to experience some of the best singers and instrumentalists on the London scene:  from popular New Orleans fused singer/pianists such as TJ Johnson on Monday, through ‘jazz ‘n samba’ sets from leading vocalists such as Georgia Mancino and Luna Cohen on Tuesdays, ebullient trumpeter Andy Davies with guest accompanists on Wednesdays plus mouthwatering guitar duos featuring the likes of Jim Mullen and Ant Law on Thursdays. Club DJ Mike Vitti and friends will be spinning soul, funk and jazz vinyl on Fridays and Saturdays.

Gentle bossas and swaying  summer sambas.

21 September - GERMANA STELLA LA SORSA vocals & NICK COSTLEY-WHITE guitar

Italian London-based jazz singer, Germana Stella La Sorsa whose eclectic début album ‘Vapour’, released on 33 Jazz Records, was inspired by the work of contemporary greats like Esperanza Spalding and Gretchen Parlato and featured arrangements of songs by Frank Zappa and Hermeto Pascoal.“Once in a while you hear a musician that stops you in your tracks and you can’t ignore. Upon hearing Germana La Sorsa for the first time a few years ago I was blown away by her individual and unique style of singing, I was lucky enough to hear her live, my first thoughts were that she sings with a beautifully clear and warm tone with shades of the Brazilian iconic vocalist Flora Purim.” Tony Kofi. She is joined by top UK guitarist, Nick Costley-White whom was also featured on ‘Vapour’.

28 September ANJALI PERIN & BRUNO D'AMBRA

Anjali Perin is a charismatic jazz and soul singer/pianist, songwriter and arranger, who weaves her own unique sound into a mix of songs she loves –from the great jazz standards to modern pop, funk and soul artists. With an uncanny ability to communicate with her audience, and a powerful, versatile voice which easily embraces jazz harmonies, improvisation and scat.

5 October – JAMES HUDSON vocals & NICK FITCH guitar

British vocalist James Hudson has all of the unique qualities that epitomise the 21st century jazz singer. An assured and charming performer, with an effortless voice that can communicate the nuances of a melody and lyric with great confidence. James has an immense adoration for the timeless jazz standards of The Great American Songbook and is one of the many young jazz musicians carrying the mantle to ensure these songs continue to live on.

From showing great promise during his early days with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Nick Fitch has become a much sought-after, guitarist, educator, musical director and arranger. His wide skillset and experience in a variety of genres has led to working with a range of artists such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Professor Green, Mullally, Marisha Wallace and Lee Mead, plus in the jazz world he has worked with singers including Claire Martin, Nicole Henry, Tina May and instrumentalists Jim Mullen (Average White Band), Laurence Juber (James Bond, Paul McCartney & Wings) and Zane Carney (John Mayer).

12 October – BRIGITTE BERAHA vocals & JOHN TURVILLE piano

Brigitte Beraha is recognized as one of the most versatile and exciting vocalists on the UK jazz scene. She has recorded with jazz legends, including Kenny Wheeler, Chris Laurence, Bobby Wellins and Henry Lowther whilst being closely involved in the work of the new generation of jazz musicians and in particular the Loop and E17 jazz collectives. Drawing comparisons with such luminaries as Norma Winstone, Flora Purim and Tania Maria, she has forged her own, very individual voice.

John Turville has been described as “One of the leading jazz pianists in the UK” (The Jazz Mann) and his music as “World-class, exquisite and constantly inventive” (Jazz Journal), and as “Mining as deep a seam of musical ideas as Brad Mehldau” (The Guardian).

19 October – FREDDIE BENEDICT vocals & CHRIS BLAND piano

Hailing from a theatrical family, Freddie Benedict’s extraordinary voice soared from a young age. A choral scholar and classical soloist in his early years, it is as a jazz interpreter that his mature, warm baritone has really found its calling. He is also a talented multi-linguist and mean trumpeter, with a side gig as a pretty sharp mimic.

“Freddie is an incredible young, up-and-coming jazz vocalist.”— Jon Smith, The Swingles

Beginning to become better known on the scene, pianist Chris Bland who turned professional in 2014, has worked with the likes of Brian May, James Morrison, Bobby Shew, Elliot Mason, Dennis Rollins and NYJO.
