Late Late Shows return to Ronnie Scott’s

Wednesdays will be led by a host of leading jazz players who will present their own bands followed by a jam for invited guests. Doors open at 11.15pm and bands will be on from 11.30pm onwards. Most tickets for the Late Late Show will be available at the door if advance tickets have sold out.

Rachael is unable to host in December but we have the wonderful Alex Western-King.

Line-up: ALEX WESTERN-KING saxophone; WILL BARRY piano; CALLUM GOURLAY bass; DAVE INGAMELLS drums

Alex Western-King is an award-winning musician who is generally considered to be one of the most talented saxophonists of his generation. With an impressive CV and band that claims the space between forward thinking post-bop and all-out free improvisation, Alex is rapidly establishing himself at the forefront of the modern UK jazz scene. Having shared the stage with the likes of Dame Cleo Laine, Justin Stanton (Snarky Puppy), Julian Siegel, Gareth Lockrane and more, Alex is now striking out with his debut release, 'SideSlip' on Ubuntu Music which was released earlier this year. For this evening’s late show, Alex will be playing the works of Joe Henderson and Thelonious Monk with some of the greatest talents the UK has to offer.

2012 saw Rachael record her critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Halftime’ on Whirlwind Recordings, which catapulted Cohen’s reputation to one of the premier new voices of her generation in the UK’s jazz and improvised music scene. Featuring top UK guitarist Phil Robson, ‘Halftime’ was highly praised nationwide and overseas upon its release in 2013 with four star reviews from major publications and earning her a spot in MOJO magazines top ten Jazz albums of 2014. MOJO magazine states
