LANCE ELLINGTON With his charismatic style and sultry tones, Lance Ellington has become known as one of the UK’s most popular male vocalists. Apart from recording and performing under his own name, his regular appearances on the BBC’s live series ' Strictly Come Dancing’ have endeared him to millions of UK dance and music fans. Lance has worked with many of the world's top recording artists, including Sting, George Michael, Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and many others. He is one of the UK’s busiest session singers, performing on many great albums and adverts.
His ‘Ellington Sings Ellington’, featuring his 8-piece band. 'Ellington Sings Elllington' skilfully blends the music of his father, legendary jazz band leader and 'Goon Show' personality, Ray Ellington, with the Duke Ellington sound and some of Lance's original compositions. Lance has also performed 'The Best of Bond' as lead vocalist with the renowned classical conductor, Carl Davis, alongside the Birmingham, Halle and Prague Symphony Orchestras.
ALISON JIEAR Brought to a wider audience as a vocalist from Series 9 of ‘Britain's Got Talent’, Alison Jiear previously worked extensively as a backing singer. She made the semi-finals. In her audition she sang ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’ from the musical ‘Carousel’ and received a standing ovation from both the audience and the judges.
Alison’s West-End break was as one of ‘The Fabulous Singlettes’, an Australian girl trio specialising in Motown girl group covers. They appeared at London's Piccadilly Theatre in 1988. Her other musical theatre credits include ‘Shoe’s at the Sadler's Wells Theatre, ‘On the Town’ at the English National Opera & Theater Du Chatelet, Paris, ‘Hot Mikado’, ‘Jerry Springer: The Opera’ at the Royal National Theatre and Sydney Opera House and ‘Grease’. She was also featured in the motion picture ‘Being Julia’.
She was nominated for the 2004 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in ‘Jerry Springer: The Opera’, in which she played the character of Shawntel, a woman who dreams of becoming a pole dancer. Though never paid for the project, a remixed version of her rendition of ‘I Just Wanna Dance’ from the musical became a popular dance track in nightclubs in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Her solo Albums have included ‘Forgiveness' Embrace’ and ‘Simply Alison Jiear’.
