"Please Do Not Ignore The Mermaid" is a contemporary jazz suite exploring maritime folklore and mer-myth. An impressionistic dreamscape affectionately known as "The Mermaid Suite", the work explores our relationship to the sea and climate change, the feminine voice and mermaid mythology from around the world. The harp, placed front and centre within the ensemble, ripples with the "otherness" of the sea, while ethereal vocals and soprano saxophone capture the haunting spirit of sirens and sea birds, underpinned by a rhythm section channelling the untrammelled power and depth of the Oceans. "Please Do Not Ignore The Mermaid" is presented alongside water themed works by predominantly British composers including John Taylor, Norma Winstone, Dave Holland and Kenny Wheeler.
Tara Minton is an Australian born harpist, vocalist and composer. Tara has worked with Björk, Eska, Stan Sulzmann, Tony Kofi and Geoff Gascoyne among others, and leads her own project as a harpist/vocalist.
