Live music returns with a passion to the intimate and plush surroundings of our upstairs bar for our Monday to Thursday programme. Here is a rare opportunity to experience some of the best singers and instrumentalists on the London scene: from popular New Orleans fused singer/pianists such as TJ Johnson on Monday, through ‘jazz 'n' samba’ sets from leading vocalists such as Georgia Mancino and Luna Cohen on Tuesdays, ebullient trumpeter Andy Davies with guest accompanists on Wednesdays plus mouthwatering guitar duos featuring the likes of Jim Mullen and Ant Law on Thursdays. Club DJ Mike Vitti and friends will be spinning soul, funk and jazz vinyl on Fridays and Saturdays.
10 August – ANDY DAVIES trumpet & ROB LUFT guitar
Rob Luft is an award-winning jazz guitarist from London whose virtuosity has been compared to that of six-string legends John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola & Paco De Lucia. Praised by The Times for performances with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra in 2015, who said he was destined “to achieve great things in the future”, Rob was subsequently the recipient of the 2016 Kenny Wheeler Prize from The Royal Academy of Music, and also of 2nd Prize in The 2016 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
17 August – ANDY DAVIES trumpet & NIGEL PRICE guitar
Over a career spanning more than 25 years, award winning jazz guitarist Nigel Price has become widely acknowledged as one of the hardest working musicians in the business. Musically, his blend of flowing bebop lines, deep blues sensibility and his mastery of chording continue to delight audiences and fellow musicians alike. His career highlights include a support show for Gladys Knight at The Royal Albert Hall and an appearance on Van Morrison’s 2016 album ‘Keep Me Singing’.
24 August - ANDY DAVIES trumpet & LIAM STEVENS piano
Liam Stevens is an astonishing jazz pianist. His performances are an eye opening opportunity to see a pianist who is so incredibly talented, and someone who has a very, very strong reputation on the jazz scene. He never disappoints, delivering a very high level of quality, passion and musicianship (and Jazzology!). We challenge you to only see him play just once!, you will have to see Liam play again and again. “After 30 years in this business of singing jazz, pianists like Liam are not made, they are born, I love him, he is just incredible!” Aydenne Simone
31 August - ANDY DAVIES trumpet & ANDREA RINCIARI guitar
The passion of Andrea Rinciari’s guitar playing together with his charm and drive makes him a fully-fledged favourite on the London circuit of musicians. Andrea immersed himself in the local scene when he arrived in 2014. A gregarious and excited fan of jazz as a teenager, he set about attending as many live shows as possible, in addition to be mentored by some of world’s greatest guitar masters: UK maestros Nigel Price and Jim Mullen, the legendary jazz pianist Barry Harris, and Canadian saxophonist Grant Stewart. “A short, sharp glimpse into a happier world in which jazz guitar rules!” Nigel Price
